A delegation from Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah – a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation (Quarter of a Century Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators) – recently visited the eighth edition of the ‘Youth City 2030’ in the Bahrain capital, Manama. The event, organised by Bahrain’s Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, features 97 training programmes and workshops focussing on leadership development, media, science and technology, and the arts.  

 

The initiative aims to empower young people and enhance their critical thinking, creativity and innovation to increase their engagement in the sustainable development of their country and community, in line with the ‘Bahrain Vision 2030’.

 

The Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah delegates featured Maryam Al Shehhi, Head of Internal Relations Committee; Maryam Al Shamlan, Head of Public Relations Committee, and six girls; Aisha Al Ali, Zainab Othman, Zainab Issa, Hind Othman, Mazna Al Hafiti and Jinan Shames, who took part in a number of activities.

 

Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya, believes the concept provides the ladies with training and support which enables them to excel in their future careers.

 

“These specialised programmes are an excellent way to broaden horizons and teach young people not just new facts, but a new way of critical thinking. This is very much a life-skills event and the training they experience here is an invaluable opportunity for our young ladies to extend their creative thinking and hone skills in fields which perhaps they may not have considered before.

 

“As part of our commitment to achieve the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness The Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, our primary goal is to create a generation of talented girls and young ladies who are able to face the future with outstanding skills, extraordinary innovation and courageous ambition.”

   

 

Sajaya has organised a number of visits to the Youth City 2030 event over the years, and assigned Asma Mohammed Hassouni, Head of Corporate Communications at Sajaya to a six-week mandate programme where she learnt more about the project and the variety of programmes and activities it organises each year.

 

Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah is a leading organisation dedicated to developing the talents of girls aged 13-18 years, in all creative spheres. Established in 2004 under the umbrella of Children’s Centres, it became an independent body in 2012 after an administrative decree by the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation.
