Arbor Networks to Discuss DDoS Threat Landscape at GITEX 2015

Arbor Networks Inc., the security division of NETSCOUT (NASDAQ: NTCT), announced today that it will be participating in the 35th GITEX Technology Week  taking place October 18-22, 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Arbor will be discussing the global distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack landscape and showcasing its market-leading solutions for DDoS defense.

In July, NETSCOUT closed its acquisition of Danaher’s Communications Business, which included Arbor, Tektronix Communications, the Enterprise portion of Fluke Networks and VSS Monitoring. Arbor will be co-located at GITEX with NETSCOUT, Fluke Networks and VSS Monitoring in Hall 1, Stand B1-1.

“Cyber-crime tools and services have become so widely available they have achieved commodity status and this has resulted in an unprecedented number of cyber-attacks and network breaches.  At GITEX, we’ll be helping businesses understand the threat landscape through our unique Global Network Intelligence service, which leverages our vast customer network, and we’ll be discussing best practice defense specific to their needs,” said Mahmoud Samy, Arbor Networks GM in the Middle East.

Dynamic Threat Landscape

Today, anyone with an Internet connection and a grievance can launch a DDoS attack. This is a true game changer in terms of the threat landscape and all businesses should now consider themselves a potential attack target. Furthermore, both attack frequency and complexity are also on the rise at a time when businesses have never been more reliant on connectivity to online services and applications.

Cascading Consequences

When a DDoS attack takes an organization offline, the impact extends far beyond customers who cannot access the website. The modern business is connected to multiple partners that deliver a wide range of cloud-based applications that power the organization, from salesforce software, HR systems, marketing automation, email, payroll and more. As a result, a successful DDoS attack can cripple operational productivity and efficiency while also creating dissatisfied customers.

Rise in Extortion Attacks

Additionally, an unprepared business can expect to be targeted for attacks until they demonstrate that they have adequate protection in place. Groups like DDoS for Bitcoin (DD4BC) have gained notoriety for threatening crippling attacks against businesses unless they meet their extortion demands.

Arbor Networks DDoS Protection

Whether it is pioneering the launch of DDoS Managed Services a decade ago, or more recently, calling for multi-layer protection that quickly became recognized as a best practice, Arbor has been driving innovation in the DDoS mitigation market for more than 15 years. Today, Arbor is widely recognized as the world’s leading expert on DDoS attacks. Our DDoS detection and mitigation products and services are proven within the world’s largest and most demanding networks, protecting more service provider, cloud/hosting and enterprise networks from DDoS attacks than any other vendor.
