Dubai Business Women Council Hosts EU Delegation to Promote Co-operative Trade, Industry and Exchange

The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), the official representative organisation for professional business women and entrepreneurs working in Dubai, today hosted over 70 European Union delegates from six countries at Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of a five-day trade mission to explore mutual co-operation, knowledge sharing and business opportunities.

The EU delegation, comprising members from Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania and the UK, is visiting Dubai as part of the DBWC’s mission to identify and facilitate opportunities for its international member-base. The delegation includes representatives from a diverse array of industries including IT & ICT, healthcare, food and beverage, fashion and design, education, construction, business services and transport.

The EU delegation was formally welcomed to Dubai by HE Dr. Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg, President of the DBWC, who addressed delegates on the Council’s mission to empower and motivate women to become productive members of society and contributors to the national economy.

“Today we meet in the spirit of friendship and reaching out to kindred minds. I have no doubt that this week’s discussions will contribute to enhancing the level of trade and investment between our various countries,” said Dr. Al Gurg.

“The EU has been an important and highly appreciated partner to the UAE on its path to further develop a modern and prosperous State. In the present time, we believe this partnership is vitally important to achieve our goals and objectives of mutual concern and interest.”

Dr. Al Gurg’s address was followed by a presentation by Peter Bishop, Deputy Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), who discussed the benefits of continued UAE-European trade and the importance of strong socio-economic relations between the Emirates and Europe as a whole.

Following today’s sessions in Dubai, the EU delegation will spend five days meeting representatives of organisations and businesses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

With more than 50 European businesses involved in the EU trade mission, the diverse delegation includes representatives from a British medical device supplier of surgical instruments and orthopaedic implants, a luxury Italian jewellery brand, a Hungarian fruit juice business, as well as a Greek provider of smart-technology home products for the elderly, amongst others.
