Lughati Concludes its First Ever Summer Camp

‘Lughati’, the educational initiative dedicated to supporting learning Arabic the smart way, has concluded its first summer camp for children and students. Launched on July 14 and spread over several sites in Sharjah and one in Dubai, the camp’s programme of educational and leisure activities was designed to instil a love of the Arabic language in its participants.

A main component of Lughati’s summer camp was a series of workshops that used ‘Horouf’ application. The smart devices tool aims to enrich children’s vocabularies, encourage them to express themselves eloquently and motivate them to use Arabic in their every-day discourse. The programme helped prepare students for their return to school at the end of the summer holidays.

“We are delighted with the success of Lughati’s first ever summer camp, which hosted a number of children at its several sites in Sharjah and one in Dubai. The young participants were able to make the most of a series of educational and recreational programmes during the course of the camp and we ensured that all the children taking part had fun as well as a good learning experience. We hope that this will help them to start their new school year with enthusiasm, determination and confidence,” said Badria Al Ali, Manager of the Lughati initiative.

Al Ali highlighted that at the close of the summer camp, certificates of attendance were handed out to all participating children to honour their keenness in involving themselves in tuition during their vacation. She also revealed that the Lughati initiative is preparing to launch new activities and events to coincide with the beginning of the new school year.

Lughati manager thanked all the institutions that had collaborated with the initiative and contributed to the success of the summer camp, most notably; Sharjah Ladies Club's Collage Talent Centre and Women Sports Department; Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club; Sharjah Children’s Centres in Mleiha, Al Ragga, Kalba, Khorfakkan, Wadi Al Helo and Dibba Al Hisn and the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children in Dubai.

The Sharjah-based Lughati smart Arabic learning initiative was launched in 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The initiative was formulated to be in line with his vision of developing Sharjah's education sector, preserving the Arabic language and instilling a love of Arabic in the hearts of children through modern and simplified educational methods.

In January 2016, His Highness approved the new identity for Lughati, which was conceived in response to developments in learning methods. The initiative aims to pave the way for the creation of a knowledge-based society and contribute to improving the outcomes of education.
