NATHAN OUTLAW AT AL MAHARA OPENS ITS DOORS. ‘FOOD SO GOOD IT SHOULD BE OUTLAWED!’

When the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah announced it would be collaborating with critically acclaimed seafood connoisseur, Nathan Outlaw back in March, it was the talk of Dubai. Now the doors of Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara are finally open, not only does the restaurant deliver on flavour, hospitality, interior design and atmosphere, but the overall dining experience takes people on a voyage of unmissable discovery.

A first international offering for England’s most exciting, multi-award winning chef, the new look Al Mahara is full of surprises that will leave people with lasting memories.

Bringing his unique style of cooking and relaxed hospitality to Burj Al Arab, Nathan, along with head chef Pete Biggs, has produced a restaurant that delivers top quality, simple dishes, packed with delicious and complex flavour combinations.

The Food

Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara celebrates British cuisine. The menu is diverse and unique with each dish created specifically for Burj Al Arab. Using the very best ingredients from all over the world, including oysters from Cornwall, UK, his home county, Nathan lets the food do the talking. Key dishes include Lobster Risotto, Crispy Cooked Oysters with Caviar, Raw Scallops and Citrus Cured Brill.

Particularly British in style, the dessert menu includes Sticky Toffee Pudding – his 11 year old daughter’s recipe - and a Treacle tart. Each dish has the ‘Outlaw’ twist” and is served with lots of theatre.

The Design

Not only does Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara deliver on flavour but it delivers on design too, creating an environment and space that gives diners the feeling they are in an underwater haven.

The stunning, signature floor-to-ceiling aquarium remains the centre piece, with its vibrant coral and more than 30 different species of exotic fish.

The restaurant has been opened up and now has an outdoor patio providing the perfect location for pre or post dinner drinks. With lounge seating for 40 and stunning sunset sea views, the patio has special glow-in-the-dark pebbles which absorb energy from the sun throughout the day and emit light at night.

The brand new Juna Bar is situated in the lounge area and is adorned with an acrylic surface that is beautifully textured and backlit. Here, delicious drinks which pair beautifully with the seafood are served to whet palates pre-dinner and quench thirst afterwards.

The Team

Nathan will be constantly involved with the restaurant and in Dubai at least seven times a year to consult with very talented head chef, Pete Biggs, restaurant manager Sharon McArthur and the team. Pete has been working with Nathan for the past 15 years in the UK and has a proven track record for producing extraordinary dishes.

A word from Nathan and Burj Al Arab

Talking about the opening of Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara, Nathan said: “We are so excited to be open but this is where the real hard work starts. We want people to come and have a great time and enjoy the whole experience of dining at Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara – the food, the atmosphere, the team and the personality of the place and the dishes. I want people to take away fond memories, whether it’s the taste of a dish, the story behind it or the team member who served them. This is the challenge, if we want to create lasting memories we have to get it spot on every lunch and dinner time. I’m confident in the team and the menu and am really looking forward to hearing what people think.”

Anthony McHale, General Manager, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah said: “When I first tried Nathan’s food at his Michelin Star restaurant in Cornwall more than a year ago, I knew he was perfect for Burj Al Arab. His personality shines through in the food and throughout his team. Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara is a completely new and different concept for the hotel. The restaurant is part of the future of Burj Al Arab… accessible, affordable dining with fantastic service in an incredible setting.”
