Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah to Renovate Dozens of Family Homes

In line with the UAE’s Year of Giving 2017 and in the spirit of enhancing the values of selflessness and voluntarism, Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah (Sajaya) has announced the launch of a voluntary community initiative as part of its ‘100 Hours of Giving’ summer camp.

The summer camp that is being organised by Sajaya - a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators (Rubu’ Qarn) - will renovate dozens of houses in areas across the Emirate of Sharjah, with the aim of improving the families’ residential accommodation and bettering their quality of life.

Taking place from July 30 to August 24, the initiative will see 800 girls from Sajaya participate in the renovation of houses in Sharjah, Kalba and Khor Fakkan. The girls will help repair and restore the houses so that the occupants can enjoy decent living standards, which is essential to maintain human wellbeing, health and happiness.

“Volunteering is one of the most important values that we aim to instil in our girls, as it promotes strong community cohesion. Our members are committed to this endeavour and by undertaking it will be both giving back to their society and reinforcing the importance of selflessness. Through the ‘100 Hours of Giving’ programme we look forward to promoting volunteerism and improving the living standards of a number of families in Sharjah,” said Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya.

Sheikha Aisha Al Qasimi underscored that Sajaya is committed to educating and training its young members on the ‘Arts of Life,’ which includes communication, collaboration, solidarity, determination and perseverance. She highlighted that this builds their spirit of leadership and empowers them to contribute positively to the development of the UAE.

Each Sajaya girl participating in the 100 Hours of Giving programme will complete 100 volunteering hours in four weeks; five hours a day, five days a week. They will help renovate, repair and restore the houses in cooperation with a number of partners.

Any interested party wishing to know more about the initiative and to register for it should visit: https://www.registration-sajaya.com before July 23, 2017.

Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah is dedicated to developing the talents of girls aged 13-18 years in all creative spheres. Established in 2004 under the umbrella of Sharjah Children’s Centres, it became an independent entity in 2012 following an administrative decree from Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation.
