Sharjah Ladies Club hosts Ramadan Camps for Children

Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) is ensuring a holy month full of education, entertainment and spiritual awareness for the community’s youngest members, with Ramadan camps programme for children currently underway in Sharjah.

 

Taking place at a number of locations in the emirate, SLC’s Ramadan Camps are featuring cultural, educational and religious activities that have been carefully selected to align with the spirit of the holy month. The schedule has been designed to gainfully use the free time of children aged 3-13 who are presently on their Ramadan school break from 5th till 30 June.

 

Included in the SLC Ramadan Camps’ comprehensive programme are recitations from the Holy Quran, retellings of Prophet Muhammad’s life and stories about important figures in Islam. Ensuring fun and education as well as religious awareness, the camps are also providing entertainment activities that include art workshops, handmade craft sessions, face-painting, a photography corner and numerous games and surprises. 

 

“Ramadan is a special time of year and as such, occupies a respected status in the hearts of the UAE’s citizens and residents. In celebration of this holiest of months, Sharjah Ladies Club has organised a programme of educational, religious and recreational activities in line with its focus on community cohesiveness. Our key objective with this endeavour is to instil Ramadan’s noble values in children and young people and encourage them to find out more about their faith in an attractive yet simple manner. We also aim to expand their abilities through a range of artistic activities designed to develop their creativity and enhance their constructive thinking,” said

SLC’s summer camp programme for children includes the Basateen Camp and Tiny Talents Camp for younger boys and girls aged 3-5 years. Its Champs Camp is exclusively for boys aged 5-13 years, while its Collage Art Camp is for girls aged 5-10 years and boys aged 5-9 years. The schedule has been devised to present a variety of packages which attract children and young adults of all ages and which meet mothers’ wishes to have their children enjoy a constructive time during their Ramadan school break. 

 

Within SLC’s programme and taking place every Wednesday during Ramadan, Sharjah’s Collage Library is hosting a workshop for children aged 5-10 years old. Titled ‘My Arabic Language is Smart,’ the activity aims to endear the young attendees to the Arabic language by way of modern technology. Another workshop at the library conducted by Dr. Fatimah Al Braiki titled ‘Let’s Write a Story in One Week’ was held from June 12-16 for young girls aged 11-17 years old, with the girls’ stories printed by the library once they had completed them. 

 

Collage Library is also hosting a Ramadan Camp on June 24-28 for children aged 5-10 years in association with Ayadi Al Mostakbal Centre. The camp features a variety of activities that include Hadith recital sessions, stories about prophets, a cookery programme with Chef Majed, handmade accessories creation, pottery, a day trip and an Iftar banquet with the elderly at the Old People’s Home in Sharjah. It will also host a collection fund, which will be at held at Collage Talent Center in collaboration with other charity organisations.

 

The Collage Library Ramadan Camp’s concluding ceremony will comprise an Iftar for the children and their families hosted by presenters of kids’ programmes from MBC3 TV channel. The camp will be followed by a Ramadan Bazaar at Dubai’s Festival City. Open daily after 9:00 pm, the three-day bazaar will feature displays of Islamic artefacts, pottery and cookery demonstrations, charity initiatives and ‘Hakawati’ - the ancient Arab art of storytelling.

 

Established in 1982, SLC - a subsidiary of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs - is dedicated to facilitating leisure and educational activities for women and children. The facility provides its members with a relaxing and nurturing place where they can learn, enjoy sports and partake in favourite hobbies. SLC organises events that relate to society, art, health and charity, with its activities including bazaars, exhibitions, sporting events, seminars, workshops and forums.
