Ten titles handed out in Arabic and English at four Dubai Metro stations to mark World Book Day

In accordance with the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to make 2016 the ‘Year of Reading’ here in this country, representatives from the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) distributed complimentary books at four Dubai Metro stations to mark World Book Day.

This project, which was designed to underline the UAE government’s commitment to creating a generation of book lovers and lifetime readers and consolidate the country’s position as a global capital for culture and knowledge, saw Arabic and English versions of 10 titles be handed out at Al Rashidiya, Burj Khalifa – The Dubai Mall, BurJuman and Union stations in two distinctly separate phases.

World Book Day is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, along with publishing and copyright. It is held every year on April 23 and was first celebrated on that precise day 21 years ago back in 1995.
