An elite group of media persons from Abu Dhabi and Sama Dubai TV channels displayed their culinary skills during Saturday’s cooking competition held at Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier family and leisure destination, as part of the 10th edition of the Sharjah Food Festival.

 

Organised by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) under the slogan “Many Flavours, One Festival”, the popular gourmet-themed event will run until April 9 with an array of culinary-related events, live performances and entertainment activities for all family members.

 

The cookery corner witnessed a competition between two teams from Sama Dubai TV channel represented by Rasha Ramadan, Samia Murad and Amal Salem, and Abu Dhabi TV channel, whose team included Ameera Mohammed, Ahmed Abdul Razzaq, and Adel Al Juaidi. The two teams displayed their food preparation techniques and skills in preparing dishes with various flavours amid an atmosphere dominated by a sense of humor.  

 

During the one-hour contest, each team prepared main food dish and sweet dish served alongside salad. Each team was given a box containing three main components to be used in preparing the main dish alongside salad. They were also informed about the rules they need to abide by. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The event gave the audience an opportunity to meet these media figures and know about the nature of their work and difficulties they face while performing their job. The Sama Dubai TV team prepared pasta with meat, alongside an Arab salad, while the Abu Dhabi TV team prepared grilled beef with rice and broccoli, served with vegetable salad. They competed in a very exciting atmosphere dominated by the spirit of humor and healthy competition between the two teams. The contest ended with the victory of the Sama Dubai TV team over the Abu Dhabi team.

 

Ahmed Abdul Razzaq, an actor and presenter at Abu Dhabi TV, said, "I am very pleased with our participation in the food festival at Al Qasba, which gave us an opportunity to meet with the audience, and introduce ourselves to them apart from our official appearance on TV. We hoped that we managed to bring joy to their hearts, which is the key goal of our participation.”

 

Al Qasba will continue to host a diverse spectrum of live culinary-related activities and performances throughout the 10-day culinary extravaganza, creating an exciting and enjoyable atmosphere for all family members.
