Ajman tourism gets strong boost from UAE and GCC nationals during Eid Al Adha

Tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries including staycationers from the UAE were the top visitors of Ajman during Eid Al Adha holiday, according to Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD).

Nationals from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, KSA, Bahrain and UAE were majority of the guests who stayed in Ajman’s hotels and hotel apartments, followed by nationals from Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Nepal and China including Singapore. The remaining guests were from Europe and Africa.

Average occupancy for hotels and hotel apartments for Eid Al Adha was 98%, which is slightly lower compared to last year’s 100% occupancy, but majority of the establishments reported increase in occupancy especially during the last days of Eid when last-minute reservations lifted the emirate’s tourism performance.

Kempinski Hotel Ajman witnessed an average of 92% occupancy during the Eid Al Adha holidays this year compared to last year’s average occupancy of 85%. The Ajman Palace Hotel’s occupancy rate during the three-day Eid Al Adha celebration was 98% while Fairmont Ajman and Ajman Saray reported more than 85%.

According to Mohamed Al Bahrawy, Director of Sales and Marketing of Kempinski Hotel Ajman, “the increase in the number of guests is due to the fact that the locals are travelling abroad less, and having staycations within the country instead. Ajman has become the preferred getaway, and we can see that the entire emirate is performing strongly due to the right value propositions in the market.”

HE Faisal Al Nuaimi, General Manager of ATDD said: “The tourism performance for Ajman during Eid Al Adha is very encouraging. The figures we received from the establishments indicate that Ajman is becoming a preferred destination of the domestic market including visitors from the GCC countries. We are also receiving new visitors from Asia and Europe who are here to discover what Ajman has to offer as a safe family and leisure destination. This is a result of our working closely with our industry partners to offer a different holiday experience to our visitors so we are expecting continued growth in our arrivals for the remainder of the year.”
