Ajman tourism to intensify awareness campaign to attract more visitors

The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) highlighted the need to increase the awareness of Ajman to its feeder market after noting a 14% increase in hotel revenue during the second quarter of the year.

 

During a meeting with representatives from hotels, tour operators and travel agencies, the committee headed by HE Faisal Al Nuaimi, General Manager of ATDD, reported that total revenue for the hotel and hotel apartments in Ajman grew by 14% in the second quarter of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.  

 

Khulood Khaled Al Nuami, Director of Tourism Development and Marketing presented the hotel industry statistics showing an increase of 40% on the number of guest nights for the hotel facilities, indicating that more guests are finding the emirate a good destination when visiting the UAE. However, the number of hotel guests fell from 198,000 in 2014 to 120,000 in 2015.

 

There were a total of 3,420 rooms and units for Ajman during the second quarter, an increase of 14.5% and the emirate’s top five visitors during this period are from the UAE, followed by GCC, Asian and Africans, other Arab countries and Russians. From these nationals, Asians and Africans spent the highest number of guest nights followed by other Arab countries, Europeans, UAE and GCC.

 

Hind Al Marzooqi, Head of Marketing & Tourism Section updated the members on the status of the 2016 marketing plan for Ajman tourism. The department is currently on phase two of the plan which is developing strategies to be executed as part of the marketing plan. 

 

Plans for the upcoming World Travel Market in London this November were discussed and the team encouraged representatives to be equipped with all the needed information in order to promote the emirate to the key stakeholders and visitors attending the travel fair. 

 

Mr Al Nuaimi reiterated the importance of working together to achieve Ajman’s tourism target of five million visitors annually by 2021.
