Al Qasba Street Fiesta (QABAM) kicks off with a colourful mix of animated artworks and activities

Al Qasba Street Fiesta (QABAM), where live music and interactive art events merged into one fun-filled and artistic platform for all visitors, kicked off on Thursday 10th March 2016 at “Al Qasba”, Sharjah’s premier tourist and leisure destination. QABAM welcomed Sharjah residents and visitors through a colorful mix of animated and sparkling artworks, various artistic and entertainment activities as well as live music performances.

 

The Fiesta transformed Al Qasba’s walkways into an artistic platform that features an exclusive line up of international renowned artists exhibiting their creative artworks to all art lovers. The first days of QABAM presented loud and expressive art shows which attracted a number of Sharjah residents, visitors from the UAE and international tourists. The walkways were decorated with Fiesta-themed colors and activities, where visitors can enjoy a series of unique artistic shows.   

 

Visitors at QABAM were entertained by renowned German artist, Blanko, who will put up three amazing body-painting performances a day throughout the Fiesta, where visitors participating in drawing various designs on his white-painted-body. Mauranga, a Spanish artist, combined circus, theatre, music and comedy in a one-man-show performance,  which gathered cheers from visitors of all ages. Meanwhile Gennaro, an Italian artist, thrilled visitors with optical illusions through his unique and wonderful 3D Chalk Art drawing performances.

 

Visitors also walked around Al Qasba walkways explored kiosks that sold art-related collectibles, goods, souvenirs and food provided by a diverse set of local and international vendors. “Doodle Walk”, “Box of Art Installation”, “Gnome Painting”, “Corpse Wall” and “Fillers” were among the top fun-filled activities which attracted mass number of visitors interested in discovering QABAM’s entertainment features. 

 

Sultan Mohammed Shattaf, Al Qasba Manager, said, “Holding Al Qasba Street Fiesta (QABAM) plays a major role in promoting Sharjah’s growing art and pop culture segment to all UAE residents and tourists from around the world. This segment is also growing rapidly in the UAE, gathering a giant fan-base and individuals, who frequently attend, enjoy and appreciate artistic exhibitions and performances from local and international artists. Our objective from QABAM is to strengthen Sharjah’s presence as a central artistic and cultural platform for art enthusiasts, pop culture fans and visitors of all types, and to welcome new local and international artists who wish to expand their works’ reach across the UAE.” 

 

He added, “We have carefully selected unique experiences in order to create a live mix of colorful entertainment, rich cultural features and distinguished artworks. This strategy was achieved thanks to our honorable cooperation with the best international artists, and their exclusive performances which will be making further headlines on Sharjah’s premiere tourist and leisure destination.”
