Dubai Cares today announced the 6th edition of its Walk for Education, the symbolic three kilometer walk that aims to highlight one of the challenges children face in acquiring quality education in developing countries where they have to walk an average of three kilometers every day in order to go to school. The Walk for Education 2015 will take place on Friday, February 6th starting at Dubai Creek Park and moving along Riyadh Road. Participants are requested to gather at 8am in Dubai Creek Park, Gate 2, where Dubai Cares will also host a series of post-walk festivities inside the Park for children and adults.

Commenting on the need for engaging the local community in the organization’s mission, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said: “The Walk for Education, one of the main pillars of Dubai Cares’ community engagement strategy, is an act of solidarity with those children who literally walk the distance to gain an education. With every step they take, they are taking their families, communities and nation closer to a productive and progressive environment. Through our Walk for Education, we want to contrast the educational amenities we benefit from in the developed world and the depleted resources in many developing countries that we have development programs in. Facilitating a sound educational system in those countries is what we, as an organization, strive towards and through our Walk for Education, we are giving the UAE community the opportunity to join us in making powerful strides towards universal quality education.”

The previous five editions of Dubai Cares Walk for Education have attracted participants from across the UAE community including volunteers, corporate entities, academic institutions, media, and government institutions. The Walk for Education not only provides entertainment for adults and children, but also raises awareness in support of Dubai Cares programs in 35 developing countries around the world, offering participants a window to the organization’s work and the tangible impact the community’s support is making in promoting education around the world. The post-walk celebrations will be hosted by DJ Saif & Sound, and the entertainment line-up will include activities such as face painting, games arcade, bouncing castle, photo booth, performances by Dubai Police Band and Dubai Drums, and others.
