Dubai Customs displays innovation experience to other government entities

The Innovation Center, which runs under Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department at Dubai Customs, displayed Dubai Customs’ outstanding experience in developing innovations in front of innovation teams from the Land Department, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Abu Dhabi Ports. The delegates were able to learn about the innovation strategy followed by Dubai Customs, which relies on the ideas of its employees, clients and the public. There are different levels that an idea pass through from the beginning to maturation and turning into an innovative project.

Hussain Al Fardan, Dubai Customs’ Innovation Center senior manager delivered a presentation to the visitors around the procedures followed by Dubai Customs to nurture innovation and encourage new ideas, including the linkage of Dubai Customs’ innovation strategy with the local and federal government development plans.

“Our innovation strategy aims to make our clients happier through the development of services and innovating new services that add genuine value to their business.  Rationalizing consumption, reducing cost, and increasing revenues are also main targets of this strategy,” said Al Furdan.

He pointed out that the Innovation Center has organized a series of brainstorming session to develop and mature ideas in the face of the spread of covid-19. Employees delivered a number of feasible solutions, which made 72% of the 266 ideas delivered. Around 270 employees actively participated to solve 79 problems posed by the crisis.  Dubai Customs developed 32 innovative projects in 2020 to raise the total number of innovations developed between 2010 and 2020 to 237 innovations and breakthroughs. For this, Dubai Customs bagged 14 awards in innovation in 2020 to raise the total innovation accolades to 124.
