Empower participates in special recognition meeting for UNEP’s DES partners in St. Paul, Minnesota – USA

Empower has participated at the special recognition meeting for UNEP’s District Energy in Cities initiative at the sidelines of the 107th IDEA Annual Conference & Tradeshow being held at St. Paul, Minnesota – USA until 23rd June.

 

Empower has been recognized as a major partner of the UNEP’s District Energy in Cities initiative since the launch of this initiative where it has remarkable involvement in achieving the goals of spreading district cooling technology in many developing countries such as India, China, Chile, Morocco, Serbia as well as increase environmental awareness and energy consumption conservation practices which will help in sustainable development.  

 

The ceremony was attended by Rob Thornton, President & CEO of IDEA, and Lily Riahi, Advisor, UNEP DES initiative, among many other prominent US and international experts and officials. 

The ceremony has showcased a series of achievements being realised in countries recently as well as best practices in district cooling and energy management in various cities around the world. It also discussed next steps of implementing energy management practices and ways of increasing awareness of its benefits.

 

“Empower greatly contributed in disseminating sustainability solutions and district cooling technology as part of Dubai’s relentless efforts in this regard. We look forward for more cooperation as we support developing countries in enhancing their district cooling infrastructure to go in line with UNEP vision and practices,” said Bin Shafar.

“Empower is a partner to UNEP’s DES programme since its beginning, and by this involvement, Empower is spreading the vision of our visionary leaders, of making the world a better place to live. Based on these principles, we have gone a long way in transferring district cooling technologies and sustainability solutions as well as energy management systems to other parts of the world,” Bin Shafar added.

Guests and speakers commended Empower’s involvement in DES initiative. Also, at the function, Champion City recognition was given to HE Chris Coleman, the Mayor of St. Paul. 

Empower currently operates more than 1.1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
