Equestrian New South Wales today announced an exciting new partnership with Godolphin, the global thoroughbred breeding and horseracing stable founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, for the 2016 New South Wales Interschool Equestrian Championships and the 2016 Australian Interschool Championships.

The Interschool Championships is the premier school age event for young riders in the equestrian disciplines and is an integral pathway to elite level competition. The competition provides school aged children with educational and coaching avenues combined with the opportunity to compete against their peers with the possibility of representing NSW at the Australian Interschool Championships.

This year’s Godolphin New South Wales Interschool Championships and Australian Interschool

Championships are set to be the largest equestrian events ever held in New South Wales. A record number of 650 competitors and 630 horses will compete across 2100 events in equestrian disciplines of eventing, combined training, show horse, dressage, show jumping and vaulting.

The 2016 New South Wales State Interschool Championships will be held from 22nd until 26th June at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park, the scene of the 2000 Sydney Olympic

Games.

Australian Olympic gold medallist Stuart Tinney and silver medallist Shane Rose will be attending the

State Championships on Wednesday to talk to all riders and assist with the Eventing presentations.

Speaking in support of the partnership, Henry Plumptre, Managing Director of Godolphin in Australia, said: “As Australia's largest racing and breeding stable, Godolphin is committed to the well-being, growth and promotion of the local equine industry. We are delighted to be involved with the Interschool Equestrian Championships and look forward with great excitement to watching the development of riders and horses at this year’s Championships.”

“The passion for the sport extends beyond the racetrack as Godolphin aims to have a positive longlasting impact on the industry and racing communities worldwide. We are delighted to announce our partnership of the 2016 NSW Interschool Equestrian Championships and the 2016 Australian Interschool Championships, the pinnacle in showcasing the talent of young equestrian riders from around Australia.”

Equestrian NSW Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Farrar, said: “We are delighted to have Godolphin as our principal partner for our NSW and Australian Equestrian Interschool Championships. Godolphin has a proud heritage as one of the most successful international racing and breeding stables and is committed to the lifetime care of horses, through its support of equestrian sports and many other community-based programs.”

Each competitor at the NSW Championships will be trying to qualify for the 2016 Godolphin Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships which is again being hosted by Equestrian NSW in September at the same venue – one of Sydney’s finest sporting arenas and a legacy of the successful 2000 Olympic Games.
