Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai hosts iftar for children of Thalassemia Center at Latifa Hospital

Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai, a luxury accommodation along Sheikh Zayed Road, recently hosted an iftar for the children of Thalassemia Center at Latifa Hospital, as part of its social responsibility to the local community.

The team from Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai led by Mr. Daniel Mathew, General Manager; Shihaam Kader, Training Manager; Azam Chiragh, Human Resources Manager; and Bhagyashree Kale, Human Resources Officer hosted the event attended by 19 children along with their parents.

Ms. Fatima Saeed Saleh Alswead, Senior Social Worker and Ms. Awatif AbdulBaqi Aljsmi, Head of Follow up and Coordinator of Thalassemia Center welcomed and assisted the team in this annual activity.

“Every year we extend our support to the Thalassemia Centre and other organizations looking after the welfare of our children. We commend the Centre for the professional and high quality care they are giving to their patients and support to their parents. We hope our small effort can bring them joy because it is also our hope that Thalassemia will be prevented and eventually eradicated”, said Mr. Matthew.

Under the supervision of Dubai Health Authority, Thalassemia Centre provides aid to patients with genetic blood disorders and other haemoglobinopathies. The center has 28 beds for patients who require blood transfusion and an out-patient clinic which provides services such as effective screening, counseling, and continuous medical care in addition to its social and outreach services for Thalassemia patients.
