Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi hosts a number of ambassadors and representatives of South American countries

Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organized a round table today entitled "The Economic relations between the countries of South America and the United Arab Emirates" in the presence of H.E Dr. Nelson Chaben, Ambassador of Uruguay in the UAE, HE John Paul Tarud, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile in the UAE and Marcio Pessoa da Silva, Head of the economy, trade and investment department at the Embassy of Argentina in the UAE. The roundtable was held at the Richelieu Hall on the PSUAD’s campus and attended by a number of students from various majors.

 

Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi aimed through hosting this roundtable, to introduce students and raise awareness among them to economic sectors which constitute the foundations of the economic relations between the countries of South America and the UAE. The roundtable also aimed to develop the students’ skills, as well as training them to knowledgeable professionals by keeping them aware of the latest international developments in the economics field. Furthermore, the roundtable tackled the direct investment and international trade, as well as recent trends and potential developments.

 

Commenting on his participation in the roundtable organized by Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, HE Nelson Chaben, Ambassador of Uruguay in the UAE, said: “For Uruguay, the relation with the UAE is really crucial and important because we consider it an access to the Gulf and the region”.

 

H.E Dr.Chaben, added: “Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is an excellent venue for us to exchange ideas and receive input from students from different cultures. It was also a great opportunity for us to meet with PSUAD’s students and showcase the importance of the relations between the UAE and Latin America”.

 

For his part, H.E John Paul Tarud, Ambassador of Chile in the UAE, said: “It is extremely important that Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and its students are taking interest in the relations between the UAE and the Latin America. It is a great honour to be able to contribute to the objectives of highlighting to the students the international relations between these countries.

 

H.E Traud, added: “The relationship between the Latin America and the Middle East in general is extremely interesting as its historical and hundreds of years of interaction both on the political and economic spectrum. That’s why I believe that this roundtable is really enriching for the students and for us very interesting to be able to interact with the young people”.

 

Dr.  Fatima Saeed Al Shamsi, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administrative Affairs at PSUAD said: "We are pleased and honoured to welcome H.E Dr. Nelson Chaben, Ambassador of Uruguay and HE John Paul Tarud, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile in the UAE, at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. Their presence amongst us is a unique opportunity for our students to learn from their expertise in the world economy field, introducing them to all kind of subject that may be of interest to them in this field and allowing them to know more about it".

 

Dr. Al Shamsi added: “Our continued organization of events that enrich the Academic journey of our students, reflects our commitment at PSUAD to develop local talents, by providing various tools needed by our students and which help them enhancing their academic journey and personal development, thus keeping them aware of different stories at various levels.  In light of the great turnout at the academic, economic and scientific events organised by PSUAD, we shall continue organizing such high-level events and hosting international experts, ambassadors and specialists to provide our students with a comprehensive university experience".

 

The roundtable entitled "Economic relations between the countries of South America and the United Arab Emirates" included talks and interactive sessions between the ambassadors and the students of PSUAD who were given the opportunity to inquire about all economic topics of interest. Furthermore, both ambassadors highlighted the importance of economic relations between countries of South America and the United Arab Emirates.  At the end of the roundtable, students asked questions and expressed their gratefulness for this encounter.
