RTA all set for hosting UITP MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition 2016

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, Dubai is hosting the UITP MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition 2016, which is jointly organized by the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) at the Dubai World Trade Center during 25-27th April 2016.

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, confirms that RTA is fully prepared for hosting the UITP MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition under the theme: Urban Mobility: Think Big, Act Smart. He welcomed visitors and participants in the Congress & Exhibition wishing them pleasant stay in their second home, and wishing the Congress every success.

“This is one of the major events in the public transport industry as it brings transport officials, policy makers, legislators, consultants, operators and manufactures all under one roof to discuss visionary solutions for public transport issues. The event attracts paramount attention of ministers, chairpersons, CEOs, consultants, experts and other decision makers in various spectrums of transport industry in view of the massive upswing witnessed by cities of the region, steady increase in the number of population, and the dire need for providing integrated mass transit systems to ease the mobility of city inhabitants,” explained Al Tayer.

“The event is expected to attract more than 600 participants hailing from 29 countries, and the exhibition will span an area of 5200 square meters. About 80 speakers from 20 countries will take part and more than 3000 attendees expected. Over three days, the Congress will discuss a plethora of topics such as the status of public transport in growing cities, managing and funding of public transport, transport & the use of energy, school transport, and the importance of innovation & creativity in providing public transport.

“RTA is always keen on attracting best experts and the world’s top practices of public transport to the entire MENA region through capitalizing on the expertise of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), which has multitude of affiliated member countries across the globe,” added Al Tayer.

He reiterated RTA’s commitment to make this international highlight a success towards raising the scope and profile of public transport sector. “Our intention is also to enhance the reputed standing of Dubai in organizing exhibitions & congresses representing a raft of commercial, economic, service, financial, and tourist sectors among others, besides enriching its impressive achievements in this regard,” he added.
