Saudi Arabia to resume direct flights to Thailand in May

Saudi Arabian Airlines announced its plan to resume direct flights to Thailand in May this year.

The announcement came following agreements reached between Saudi Arabia and Thailand to upgrade diplomatic relations to the level of ambassadors, as well as to enhance economic cooperation, and explore areas of joint investment.

The bilateral pacts were signed during the current state visit of Thailand’s Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prayut Chan-ocha to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense. Chan-Ocha will conclude his three-day visit on Thursday.

In a related context, Ajlan Al-Ajlan, president of the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), said: “The visit comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations, consultation, coordination and exchanging views on a number of regional and global issues, based on the Kingdom’s keenness to build distinguished relations with all countries of the world. This also reflects the mutual appreciation between leaders of the two countries and their keenness to strengthen bonds of friendship and joint cooperation.”

Al-Ajlan noted that the Kingdom is well aware of the importance of political and economic partnership with the countries of the world, especially with countries in the region. He emphasized that this is at the core of the Vision 2030 goals, as the Vision focuses on the Kingdom’s partnership with other Asian countries in the economic and commercial sectors, as well as to promote investments to serve common interests.
