Saudi Digital Academy opens ‘data science’ camp

The Saudi Digital Academy on Saturday launched its first program aimed at training 100 male and female graduates as part of its data science camp.
The camp features more than 14 programs in technical and professional areas, including probability, statistics, data visualization and programming language, to equip participants with soft skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, and effective communication.
The camp also aims at providing practical training in the skills and competencies needed to enable trainees in the field of artificial intelligence and science data through the help of international and local experts and specialists. The training will be delivered through real projects and data that will permit the trainees to obtain accredited professional diplomas and certificates.
The undersecretary for technology and digital capacities at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ahmed Al-Thunayan, said the 19-week camp featured activities that would culminate with employment.
“The camp will provide the required training for participants, allowing them to start their career paths and cater for the needs of the labor market, and link the academic outcomes of universities with professional skills associated with this type of specialization.”
He said the camp would reveal the talent of participants, then it would refine and hone this talent through 25 career counselors and 20 certified global instructors.
Al-Thunayan said the camp reflected the Kingdom’s strategy for digitization.
The Saudi Digital Academy aims at providing quality training in areas such as cybersecurity, data analysis, modern digital technology and leadership skills, in collaboration with prestigious academic institutions including MIT and Imperial College London.
