Saudi municipalities cleaning up to combat coronavirus

Municipalities in Saudi regions have stepped up their environmental sanitation campaign and sterilization of public sites, markets and streets to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Atif Al-Sharaan, mayor of Al-Jouf region, said that the municipality is working to disinfect and sterilize public sites, according to a plan from the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs to contain COVID-19.

Al-Sharaan added that 437 sites were sterilized and disinfected by Al-Jouf municipality.

He called on everyone to cooperate with the municipality teams, which are working hard to protect the health of Saudi citizens and residents.

Tabuk municipality said that its teams continue their campaign of disinfection, environmental sanitation, sterilization and hygiene in public squares, streets, public places and markets.

The municipality called on owners of restaurants, coffee shops and food enterprises to fully abide by all hygiene, precautionary, preventive and sterilization measures.

It praised those who have responded and cooperated in implementing the comprehensive plan to protect Saudi citizens and residents.

In addition, the municipality confirmed its keenness to activate all municipal services online to enable beneficiaries to complete transactions from home without the need to visit offices.

Meanwhile, Qassim municipality has completed the disinfection of more than 8,400 sites. The campaign included sterilizing sites around hospitals, commercial centers and residential areas.

It also included washing and disinfecting waste containers with adequate material, and speeding up the process of waste removal from residential neighborhoods. The municipality has deployed 1,185 vehicles and 5,514 workers and supervisors in its campaign.

Ali Al-Sawwat, mayor of Al-Baha region, said that the municipality intensified its efforts to supervise, clean and remove waste to halt the spread of COVID-19.

He called on all citizens and residents to report any violations in restaurants or stores on the free toll number 940 or on the WhatsApp number 0550271419, stressing that all reports will receive full consideration by the municipality officials until they are fully resolved.
