The Pink Caravan, a pan-UAE breast cancer initiative by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), held a networking event on March 2 at Media Rotana Hotel in Dubai. At this event, the participants networked with each other before the upcoming sixth edition of the Pink Caravan Ride, which is going to take place from March 7-17. 

Members of Pink Caravan committees, including riders, volunteers, logistics team, grooms and supporters attended the event, where everyone got the opportunity to get to know each other as well as share their preparations for the upcoming 10 day annual ride. During the event, the riders participating in the sixth Pink Caravan Ride discussed the safety precautions tips and received their ride-gear that included the official uniforms, guideline booklets and breast self-exam flyers.

Reem BinKaram, Head of the Events Committee of the Pink Caravan Ride, said “I’d like to thank Media Rotana Hotel for hosting this pre-launch event. It is very important for us to commence this year’s ride with all our Soldiers of Pink Hope gathered together and aware of each other’s roles and responsibilities. This event gives our members a chance to know the efforts of each other that goes into organizing a successful ride.” 

Mr. Rabih Melhem, General Manager of Media Rotana Hotel said: “Media Rotana Dubai is committed to proactively give back to the community, and it was our utmost pleasure to host the Pink Caravan event. There is definitely an urgent need to spread awareness and we aim to make our contributions for this cause and look forward to having more activities with Pink Caravan in the future.”

This year PCR will see over 100 riders, accompanied by medical personnel and staff, traveling across all seven emirates and offering free breast cancer screenings to all men and women. It will also spread awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and help to dispel myths surrounding the disease.
