‘Street Nights’ to offer unique Street Food, Art and Musical performances in heart of Al Quoz

‘Street Nights’, an official event of Dubai Food Festival, is a must-visit event for street culture enthusiasts, showcasing unprecedented Street Food, Art and musical performances, in the heart of Al Quoz, on Friday Feb 20 and Saturday Feb 21, 2015.

The community initiative will bring together street culture enthusiasts for a weekend of creative art, music and food. For two nights, hundreds of local and international artists will be performing live, to the delight of thousands of visitors. Street musicians and DJs will entertain and surprise festival goers, while foodies will enjoy an array of delicious creative street food concepts.

Moti Roti, Fume, Fraiche, Maple Leaf, Hanoi, Shakeism, Logma, Essentialy, Melt and Panifico are among the many gastronomic venues set to delight foodies with pop up street food stalls while visitors enjoy the entertaining artistic live performances all set along the streets of Al Quoz.

Alexandre Teodoresco, co-founder of Street Nights, said: “Street Nights is a one-of-a-kind event offering a unique street-feel experience for Dubai residents and tourists, allowing them to discover and enjoy street food, art and music performances in the burgeoning artistic district of Al Quoz. We hope to entertain cultural and foodie enthusiasts of all ages with this exciting event.”

The music programme, curated by award-winning Deep Crates Cartel, local leaders in supporting alternative music and street art, will feature local and regional talents such as Hamdan Al Abri, Malika, aka the Queen of Arabic Hip hop, Parallel Sound System and many more. International celebrity artists and DJs are also scheduled for surprise appearances.

James De Valera, aka DJ Lobito, co-founder of Street Nights said: “We are thrilled by the line-up of participants for this year’s Street Nights. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover new artists, new sounds and watch live painting, air-brush performances and have the opportunity to be front row to witness collaborations between talented local and renowned international street artists.”

Some of the renowned street artists taking part include L7M, Bandi and Zombi. The interactive event will allow visitors to vote for their favourite art pieces during exciting on-site competitions. International street artists are attending from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United States, Brazil, United Kingdom, Switzerland, New Zealand, France and Spain and are collaborating with local artists to create a unique canvas. Some art pieces created by the artists during the evening will be available for sale at a closing auction.

“As a citywide celebration that showcases the diversity, creativity and multi-cultural nature of Dubai’s culinary offering, Dubai Food Festival is excited to welcome on board the Street Nights event as a platform for street culture, food, art, and music,” said Debra Greenwood, Director of the Dubai Food Festival (DFF). “As always, we are keen to feature popular food trends from around the world, such as food trucks, and are looking forward to showcasing the emirate’s street food offering as part of the festival, as it is often overlooked as a key part of Dubai’s food scene.”
Street Nights is an official event of Dubai Food Festival. Street Nights will take place on street 4b in Al Quoz industrial area on Friday Feb 20 and Saturday Feb 21, 2015, from 5pm to midnight. The event is open to the public and the entrance is free.
