Sunset Music Festival Reveals 2016 Line-Up: Gabrielle, Arrested Development, Snap, Freshly Ground And More

Nostalgic 90s music is reaching a new inflection point in the capital city with the inaugural Sunset Music Festival. Touting seven hours of non-stop tunes, Abu Dhabi’s first sunset to night music festival can finally reveal the line-up of award-winning artists set to deliver whirlwind performances.

Taking place in Zayed Sports City, the festival will host multi-platinum selling British singer/songwriter Gabrielle. The popular singer is just one of the many featured artists to perform at the festival when it comes to the city on October 21st, 2016.

As well as Gabrielle, the inaugural Sunset Music Festival will feature performances from Arrested Development, Freshly Ground and Snap, who are set to play many of their biggest and well-known hits.

Commenting on the unveiling of the festival performers, Barry Bremner, the General Manager of Zayed Sports City said: “We are very excited to announce such a strong line-up of talent for what is certain to be an incredible first Sunset Music Festival in Abu Dhabi. These artists are fantastic performers individually so when we bring them together and add a great crowd, there is no doubt this will be one of the best music festivals the capital has seen.”

An exciting line-up

Britain’s most successful soul singer, Louise Gabrielle Bobb, is known simply as Gabrielle. The RnB sensation rose to fame with her debut single ‘Dreams’, topping the UK singles chart in 1993 and earning her a 1994 BRIT Award. Look forward to a power-packed performance as she renders some of her biggest hits - ‘Dreams’, ‘Out Of Reach’ and ‘Rise’.

Commenting on her upcoming performance at the Sunset Music Festival, Gabrielle said, “I am very excited to be returning to Abu Dhabi and I can't wait to play with my band at Sunset Music Festival. I’m sure it's going to be an amazing event, and with this line-up I know the crowd is going to have a great time experience”

American alternative hip-hop group Arrested Development revolutionised the world of hip-hop with lyrics of hope. This Grammy awarded group will come alive on the Zayed Sports City stage with their biggest hits - ‘Everyday People’, ‘Tennessee’ and ‘Mr Wendal’.

Renowned Snap producers, Luca Anzilotti and Michael Münzing, have written more than one chapter in the history of dance music. The German Eurodance duo are guaranteed to bring more than their international megahits ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’ and The Power’ to Abu Dhabi.

A diverse group of musicians from South Africa Freshly Ground, made an impression on the world stage as the featured band in Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’. Rife with their own songs, the group is sure to make the crowd sway with their smooth rhythms and hit song ‘Do Be Doo’.

Local talent

Dubai-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Adam Baluch will kick off the festival with his rendition of some of the biggest hits from the 90s, and music from his feel-good debut EP ‘Answers to Questions’.

Event format

Fans can enjoy all of the headlining artists under the price of one ticket. Doors will open at 3.30pm and the first performance is due to take place at 4.30pm. The award-winning artists are sure to have people on their feet, singing along, while the open-air format is made complete with picnic blankets and great friends.
