Alice in Wonderland entertains Visitors at Al Qasba

Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premiere leisure, tourism and family destination, is hosting its final performance of Alice in Wonderland today (Friday). The musical show, which is based on the acclaimed children’s novel ‘Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,’ has been pulling in the crowds at Al Qasba during Eid Al Fitr, with young and old alike enjoying the popular stage version of the book written by famous Victorian author Lewis Carroll.

Delighting generations for 150 years, Alice in Wonderland has been translated into more than 70 languages, adapted to the stage and developed into movies around the world. This current musical play version of the story, which has enjoyed a three-day run at Masrah Al Qasba Theatre, has enthralled its audiences, with children and adults revelling in the interactive fun of one of the world’s most celebrated fantasy tales.

“We are delighted to have seen the number of families attending Alice in Wonderland over the past two days and are looking forward to a great finale to the show’s run today. The play’s popularity is a testament to Al Qasba’s visitor’s love of literature, theatre, arts and entertainment. Through hosting this musical, we have sought to bring audiences closer to high quality children’s theatre and it is clear that everyone attending the three daily shows had a very good time. We are looking forward to welcoming them - as well as new audience members - to our forthcoming theatre events at Al Qasba,” said Sultan Mohammed Shattaf, Al Qasba Manager.

Held in conjunction with the Alice in Wonderland play, a number of artists and acrobats taking inspiration from the story’s characters wandered Al Qasba’s walkways for 30 minutes before each performance, engaging and interacting with visitors with the aim of drawing them to the show.

Friday - the third and last day of Eid Al Fitr - will see Alice in Wonderland’s final three shows being held at Al Qasba, with the 40-minute performances starting at 5:30pm, 7:30pm and 9:30pm. Prices are AED 50 a seat, with tickets on sale at Al Qasba Information Desk and online through Platinum List.

Al Qasba showcases state-of-the-art facilities and modern tourist and leisure attractions. Its numerous amenities include restaurants, cafés, the Kids’ Fun House, the Al Qasba Musical Fountain, the Eye of the Emirates wheel and the Maraya Art Centre, among many other facilities that cater to visitors of all ages.
