ARABIAN NIGHTS VILLAGE STEPS UP HERITAGE FOCUS FOR NATIONAL DAY WEEKEND

Traditional Souk, Emirati Cuisine, Costumes and Bonfire Planned for December 2

Arabian Nights Village – the unique retreat in Abu Dhabi’s Al Khatim desert – is stepping up its guest heritage offering for the coming National Day weekend break.

From November 30 to December 5, the village - where accommodation reflects the nation’s heritage with a watch tower, ‘homes’ made from dried palm fronds (barasti), mud clay or goat’s hair tents - will feature a traditional ‘souk’ (market).

On National Day itself, the village will feature a live cooking station where chefs will prepare Emirati sweets and food, guests will be able to have souvenir photos taken wearing national costume and then enjoy an evening bonfire set against the magnificent backdrop of the Al Khatim dunes.

“We will also have a special children’s play area for the whole weekend to ensure that the entire family can join in the celebrations as our packages include free stays for kids under six years,” explained Rashad Kudsi, the village manager.

The National Day overnight stay packages, which start at AED1,150, include luxury coach transfers to and from the village, dune bashing, sand surfing, camel riding, a henna painting session, an Arabian Nights dinner in the stars with a traditional oud player and entertainment, and access to the Oasis swimming pool and breakfast the next morning.
