CLEVELAND CLINIC PHYSICIANS TO SPEAK AT ARAB HEALTH CONGRESS IN DUBAI

In keeping with its global medical education initiatives, Cleveland Clinic once again supports the Arab Health Congress, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center, United Arab Emirates, January 26 to 29, 2015.

Organized by Informa Life Sciences Exhibition, the leading annual medical congress in Dubai is the sixth that Cleveland Clinic has supported and accredited under its Center for Continuing Education. Cleveland Clinic will also present the Cleveland Clinic Young Clinician of the Year Award for the fourth year in a row during the congress’ Arab Health Awards Ceremony.

More than 20 key physicians from Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, will speak at the congress about different topics including anesthesia, radiology, orthopedics, laboratory medicine, surgery, urology, pediatrics, gastroenterology, quality management in healthcare, respiratory, critical care and sleep disorders, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and intervention, and public health. Four of the physicians are coming from Cleveland Clinic Children’s to speak at the Pediatrics Conference. Moreover, the Congress will also include for the first time a conference focusing on hypertension (high blood pressure).

“With the strong presence of Cleveland Clinic in the Middle East region and, specifically, UAE, we are thrilled to support continuing medical education programs for healthcare professionals,” said William Carey, M.D., Director of Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Continuing Education, who also chairs the judging panel for Cleveland Clinic’s Young Clinician Award. “By taking part in the renowned Arab Health Congress, we can participate in educational events and CME accreditations that comprise valuable and up-to-date topics that are relevant to the medical disciplines being addressed in the region. Our goal is to provide the most current evidence-based medical education possible with the conviction that this will allow healthcare professionals to take better care of their patients.”

As Activity Director of the 1st Hypertension Conference during Arab Health Congress, George Thomas, M.D., a Cleveland Clinic nephrologist and hypertension specialist, said, “Due to the increasing prevalence of hypertension worldwide, there will be for the first time a two-day conference focusing on hypertension. This conference will bring together regional and international experts who will address diagnosis and management strategies, as well as analyze recent advances in hypertension. It will be a great opportunity for delegates to obtain updated evidence-based information that can be incorporated into clinical practice, and to collaborate to plan public health interventions that can address the rising prevalence of hypertension in the region”.

Cleveland Clinic accredits several conferences within the four-day Arab Health Congress, including the Anesthesia Conference, the Radiology Conference, the Orthopedic Conference, MEDLAB Conference, the Surgery Conference, the Urology Conference, the Pediatrics Conference, the Gastroenterology Conference, the Quality Management in Healthcare Conference, the Respiratory, Critical Care and Sleep Disorders Conference, the Diabetes Conference, the Cardiovascular Disease and Intervention Conference, the Public Health Conference, and the Hypertension Conference.

Cleveland Clinic’s continuing education program is certified by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, with commendation.

Most healthcare professionals worldwide are required to achieve a recognized level of continuing medical education in order to maintain or renew their professional licenses and keep themselves up to date with recent scientific changes and innovations.

On the exhibition side of the Arab Health Congress, Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Continuing Education will be exhibiting in stand #CB127. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the booth to learn more about Cleveland Clinic and its global educational initiatives.
