NATURE VS. NURTURE EXPLORES HOW THE UAE CAN ENCOURAGE EMERGING ARTISTS

The topic of how best to create a thriving community of artists in the UAE will be discussed this week at ‘Wednesdays at the Warehouse’, a curated program of creative activities and events at Warehouse421, Abu Dhabi’s newest arts and culture destination.

During the session entitled Artist Communities: Nature vs. Nurture, four speakers will share their insight into the environments that encourage creative development, and how the UAE can further nurture the professional careers of artists working in the Emirates.

Speakers include Pradeep Sharma and Anais Missakian of Rhode Island School of Design; Jill Hoyle of non-commercial art space Tashkeel; and Maisa Al Qassimi, Programmes Manager for Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, part of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.

“I am delighted that Warehouse421 is posing serious questions and topics about the UAE’s art and culture ecosystem.  Trying to find out what artists need, through an esteemed panel of individuals in the art arena, is an incredibly enriching subject that seeks to improve the conditions of artists practicing in the UAE,” said Myrna Ayad, an arts journalist based in the UAE and the panel’s moderator.

For more details on ‘Wednesdays at the Warehouse’ and the exhibitions held at Warehouse421, please visit the website and social media platforms. All activities are located at Warehouse421 in the Mina Zayed district and are free to attend. Online registration is required.
