Qasr Al Watan Library Celebrates World Arabic Language Day with Special Virtual Event

To mark World Arabic Language Day, which falls on 18 December each year, Qasr Al Watan Library hosted Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of Sharjah's Arabic Language Academy, who presented a special virtual seminar entitled ‘How to Develop Arabic Linguistic Abilities’.

The seminar highlighted the concept of linguistic skills and how to properly acquire them, especially for children, while raising awareness of the importance of the Arabic language and its sciences. It also highlighted the steps necessary for developing sound linguistic capabilities, which enable fluent articulation both verbally and in writing.

This seminar forms part of a series of workshops by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi that celebrate the Arabic language and highlight its importance, in order to boost its contribution in various fields, whether intellectual, cultural or scientific.

Following the seminar, H.E. Abdullah Majed Al Ali, Executive Director of the Dar Al Kutub Sector at the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, said: “We must all work together to build bridges of cooperation with various institutions and cultural bodies, to highlight the greatness, richness and relevance of the Arabic language. This seminar played an important role in achieving that objective and helps with our aim of returning Arabic to former levels of glory and prosperity. We continue to work hard in this respect, supporting the creation of Arabic content and refining the skill of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.”
