The Rally Dakar 2020 Saudi Arabia organizing committee announced earlier today, Sunday the 12th of January 2020 that the death of the Portuguese competitor Paulo Gonçlaves after having fell from his bike during the Stage 7: (Riyadh- Wadi Al-Dawasir).

Furthermore, the committee added that they received an alert at 10:08 am and was immediately responded to by sending a medical helicopter which reached Paulo at 10:16 am. He was found unconscious and after further examination found that he had a cardiac arrest. The late Paulo was pronounced dead during the medical evacuation to a nearby hospital.
