Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organizes International Day on Al Reem Island Campus

In line with its slogan “A bridge between civilisations”, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organizes its annual International Day for the 7th consecutive year, held on Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at 4 P.M. on its campus in Al Reem Island. The University’s administration, faculty, students, families and friends, diplomatic representatives and a number of high level dignitaries will be participating in this event.

Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi aims to enhance student relationships on all levels and the cultural unity among them, whilst showcasing the cultures’ diversity through embracing heritage, folklore, and various civilizations. This helps bring the world closer by sharing knowledge, skills, and acquiring new information. International Day is an opportunity for students to meet their diplomatic representatives and to discuss their academic experience in Sorbonne Abu Dhabi and the importance of their participation in such events.

Eisa Al Raeesi, Head of Student Affairs at Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, said: “The university is known for hosting 75 nationalities of various cultures and civilisations from all around the world. We are always keen on shedding light on common denominators, to foster links and communication between students from different backgrounds, introducing them to fun activities and listening to their ideas and suggestions. International Day helps increase students’ knowledge, and anchor principles of cultural diversity, while acquiring a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage and civilisation of various peoples.”

Al Raeesi added: “Our International Day activities in the past were quite successful in terms of the number of participating students, parents, ambassadors, individuals from the local community and included various activities. In addition to the activities of previous years, there will be new functions, and we’re expecting a larger participation”.

This year, International Day will include new activities, including the hosting of a French Chef who will present French cuisine and a live Japanese tea party, where students and the public can learn about traditional tea preparation. Moreover, there will be an exhibition of participating countries to showcase their culture and traditions, in an attempt to highlight the rich cultural diversity on campus. There will be a fashion show of traditional constumes, piano performances and popular folklore dances.
